Run Over By Another Truck

The weirdest thing happened to me yesterday (Wednesday) – I woke up feeling completely awful and like I had been run over again by a truck.  It was the same feeling I usually have about 3 or 4 days after chemo.

I woke up at 5AM and was determined to go to the gym.  I walked into the bathroom to change my clothes and brush my teeth and I just knew something was not right.   I climbed back in bed and realized the gym was not an option.  By 6:30 AM, I realized that work was not happening either.  It turns out I had a little stomach bug, low fever (100), and the dreaded aches, pains, and sweat/chills.  I would say that out of all of these ailments, the chills are the worst for me.  Despite the fact that it was 75 degrees in my house, I was wearing a sweatshirt and wrapped up in all our blankets in bed. I just could not get warm.

I did not get out of bed except to use the bathroom until 2PM.  When I did go downstairs in the afternoon, I was sure I was going to pass out – things turned foggy and I started seeing stars when I was standing up.  Luckily, this did not happen.  I sat down and chugged a gingerale to try and get some sugar in me and slowly I started to feel better.

Usually, even on my worst post – chemo days I will force myself to get out of the house and at least give the dog a walk.  Nope, not yesterday.  I just couldn’t do it.  I’m feeling a little better today and forcing myself not to over do it.  Bri was going to the gym straight from work, but he made sure to call me before he left to tell me not to try and do a million things when I got home from work (typical Alexis).  Hopefully, this was just a temporary yucky feeling and I’ll be back to normal shortly.  Ugh, can’t wait until all of this is over and done with.
